Romanian Cuisine
Eating in Romania was not the most impressive among my experiences… I definitely would not call Romanian cuisine outstanding, however, here are a few tips on worth trying traditionals and some of the worth visiting eateries in Bucharest:
〰 Mici. Authentic and spicy grilled mixed meat rolls, obligatorily served with mustard and potato. Best with beer. We tried some in Transylvania and they tasted great, though not so unusual. (See the image above)
〰 Ciorbă de burtă (Tripe soup). Sour and creamy soup with soft beef tripes.

〰 Dinner in authentic Romanian restaurant (such as «Hanu’ lui Manuc» in the heart of Bucharest) is a must. Our choice: ‘Lady’s appetite’ (Pig tails roasted in the oven, fat and gross) and pork-stuffed cabbage leaves with polenta. Braised sour cabbage as a side dish, a glass of semi-dry house wine as an aperitif, and traditional Romanian music as a background accompaniment to such a special cultural atmosphere.

〰 Traditional ‘Bulz’ with polenta, sheep cheese, white cow cheese, eggs and smoked bacon as a perfect Romanian breakfast. I bet, we found the best one in La Mama (Bucharest).

〰 Other alternatives for a popular in Bucharest urban style breakfast are refreshing gardens of «Dianei 4» and «Simbio» restaurants. They serve quite nice signature omelettes. Not exactly authentic Romanian cuisine, although really good!

〰 You’d definitely love to try a pearl of Romanian cuisine – really special Romanian Craft beer “Zaganu”. Where? No wonder, in the «Romanian Craft Beer» bar (Fabrica de Bere Buna). They brew their own ale which is smooth, super fresh (only 4 days shelf life), and overwhelming!
